Tina's mother, Mrs. Beulah Eing, was buried 7-10-04.
Along with the other members of Tina's family,
she had warmly welcomed & accepted me as one of their own,
which was especially appreciated since I was so far away
from all of my family in Maryland.
She was, without any hyperbole, a loving, warm, generous,
fun-loving woman, full of genuine concern
for the people around her.
Many of those were her own progeny,
having had four daughters & a son,
with quite a few grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Although they might bicker & squabble occasionally,
she & her husband, Mike, were still very tender,
romantic & very much in love, even after over 65 years.
She was very down-to-earth, not pretentious at all.
For most of her life, she was an avid, trophy-winning bowler.
She loved watching movies.
She was funny & loved to laugh.
To Tina's father's consternation, she would occasionally
use terms not usually considered very lady-like.
Tina is okay. She was upset for a while that her mother
had to go through such pain & discomfort,
but fully accepts that it was time for her mother to go.
The first time Tina ever mentioned her mother to me
was on one of our first dates.
Somehow, we were talking about names & I said,
"How about those real ugly names like Agatha or Beulah? Gag!!"
To which she responded, "My mother's name is Beulah."
At that point, I was unsuccessful in crawling under a rock to hide.
Tina had been reluctant to tell her dad
that we had been living together for over five years.
She felt he did not want to hear it & could not take it.
However, she was willing to share that information
& her feelings for me with her mom.
I am glad I was able to tell Beulah how strongly I love & appreciate Tina.
I loved Beulah (we were on a first name basis) & will miss her.
