Well, this has been a real strange CHRISTMAS,
much weirder than I've ever seen.
Not a present is wrapped.
All my energy's zapped.
& now, here it is CHRISTMAS Eve.

I'll be feasting on turkey bologna,
With a side dish of left-over rice.
When it comes to dessert,
if I'm looking to splurge,
there is always some humble pie.

    So it's CHRISTMAS DINNER ALONE
    without the messes & all the fuss.
    A much quieter, simpler home,
    now that there is no "us".

No carols somewhere softly playing.
No songs are singing in my heart.
'Stead of old Jingle Bells,
it's all sounding like hell,
& I sent no one CHRISTMAS cards.

No, I didn't put up the old Yule tree.
Didn't string any lighting this year.
There's no one that I know,
so why hang mistletoe?
I'm just brimming with CHRISTMAS cheer.

        & I gave just about all I had.
