It was only his fifteenth hour-.
He had often worked eighteen or more.
But this time he's driving home
on this winding road alone
and he didn't wake up 'til he heard the horn.

He had often asked those in power,
since the second time he'd rolled his Ford,
to consider shorter days.
But they pointed to his pay,
huffing, "Overtime". Again, he was ignored.

Yeah, the movies are fun and glam'rous,
maybe if you work above the line.
But for all the crews and techs
who keep risking their own necks,
it gets hairy as each day runs out of time.

        Explosions, car crashes, fire & dang'rous stunts
        add excitement & action to these scenes.
        But when you barely keep awake,
        there are other lives at stake,
        and precision can be lost.
        But, WHO NEEDS SLEEP?

He had crossed the line once too often,
waking up just as he hit head on.
Thanks to him a fam'ly's dead
and his daughter hangs her head,
trying to understand just where her daddy's gone.
