they're sure someone is a crook.

Afraid of putting more in
than they would be getting out,
they hold love back in a secret sealed vault
and they always keep accounts.
But she and I are different,
each giving it all we've got.
And when it comes to amounts of withdrawal,
you'll see that we take a lot.

    WE'RE NOT IN THIS 50/50.
    I give a hundred percent,
    to which she gives a hundred, too,
    maybe a hundred and ten.
    WE'RE NOT IN THIS 50/50.
    I take more than I'm due.
    She claims she takes more than her fair share.
    The balance must be askew.

        The books will never balance,
        so something must be wrong.
        You can't just keep throwing capital in
        and hope to last for long.
        The partnership will suffer,
        or so convention says.
        Before too long, all resources are gone,
        and you'll end up in the red.

So, ask us if we're bothered
or somehow the least concerned.
Through all the years since we chose to invest,
we have had a strong return.
By all accounts we're thriving
and getting into the flow.
But then, I flunked my first college math,
so what the hell do I know?
