It wasn't always like this. We used to have a nice house
somewhere out in a town called Sherman Oaks.
& we weren't always so pissed.We were ready with a handout
to help the many less than fortunate folks.
But times have a way of changing.
& I guess survival matters,
'cause ours came into question in these changing times.

    THE UNITED STATES OF MEXICO,
    the place where we used to live.
    The country with trouble in saying "No",
    the land that would give, give & give.
    THE UNITED STATES OF MEXICO,
    the place we used to call home.
    The country we loved 'til we had to go,
    the land where we started to roam.

It wasn't always so bad. We used to love our neighbors,
all kinds and races: we're all diff'rent ones.
But then they started to add as they trampled all our borders,
multiplying 'til the nation's over-run.
But times have a way of changing.
& I guess survival matters,
'cause ours came into question in these changing times.

and travel to far places just for fun.
And 'though we travel today, it's a diff'rent situation.
There's no home to return to when we're all done.

        If the truth be told, we're all immigrants,
        transplants and transients
        on this spaceship planet Earth.

        yet in ways we're all the same.

It wasn't always so rough. Now, we don't have our papers,
no documents to say that we belong.
& now some times it gets tough. They all treat us like invaders.
They spit on us like we've done some-thing wrong.
