In 1947, at an Army base in Kansas,
he saw something there that would throw him on his ear.
He took his silence with him, wasn't taking any chances.
If he'd told someone, it's the end of his career.

As head of base secur'ty, he had looked inside four boxes
just arrived from Roswell in New Mexico.
He only viewed them shortly:  4 small big-eyed alien bodies.
And he knew right then there was so much more to know.

    It's THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL
    and, my, how things have changed.
    It's THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL.
    I always thought it strange
    how technology accelerated
    ever faster since that time.
    It's THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL.
    Or was it all just a steady climb?

In 1961-, at the trusted rank of col'nel,
he was put in charge of advanced technologies
to find out how they'd been done-, overcome all blocks & hurdles,
by reverse engineering Roswell's wrecked debris.

    CHORUS

        OF CORSO, of lasers, fiber-optics & night-vision.
        OF CORSO, of Kevlar, microchips, all in transition
        from theory to reality & all in the name of war.
        OF CORSO, who could ask for more?

In 1997, he would fin'lly write his story
so his children and his grandchildren would know
the truth of what had happened and- not just oratory
de-signed to cloud the facts of long ago.

In 1998-, just a year past his disclosure,
Corso died and took more secrets to his grave.
The Army still refutes his claims-, tries to minimize exposure,
says the man they trusted decades was insane.
