1: The group formed under a bad sign
with a rain cloud over their heads.
But they had no way of knowing what would ensue.
But maybe they could have noticed
signs of danger lurking ahead
if they'd only paid attention to all the clues.

2: The first time that they had practice,
it would rain throughout the whole day,
and the ceiling leaked until it shorted Greg's amp.
Josh broke as many as five strings.
With a fracture, Bart couldn't play.
And then Colin caught pneumonia from all the damp.

Perpetual Eclipse, forever in the shadows.
Timing may be everything,
but it was always off for them.
Perpetual Eclipse, drowning in the shallows.
Each time they saw some light,
they were in the dark again.

3: They stuck together regardless
& they got good press & reviews,
and it looked like they might make it up to the top.
But with each pivotal moment,
something else took over the news.
& their spotlight was extinguished, their story dropped.

while the D.C. Snipers' shooting. 4
Their CD release was upstaged by "Shock & Awe". 5
Michael J.'s arrest, 6 then Saddam's 7 had
all the editors substituting
when the band's drug bust hit the headlines
& Jay Leno's monologue.

4: Throughout their music career moves,
they had had their portion of breaks.
But it seemed each one was swallowed right at the start.
Their final fare-thee-well concert,
publicized for all it could take,
was washed out by the Tsunami a whole world apart. 8
