1: I opened up my left eye
just to see if I was right.
Yes, I'd survived the excess
of another heavy night.
My shirt and pants were rumpled
and I still had on my shoes.
The throbbing sound between my ears
was not exactly news.
I staggered to the bathroom
to brush out this horrid taste.
But the tube I grabbed with blurry eyes
was "Preparation H".

The latter part's the only thing
I'm sure of, so I think.
I must have had a good friend
there who wanted me alive.
My keys are gone; my car's not here;
so I know I didn't drive.
I could have been an asshole,
played the fool or acted bad.
I'll just have to call to find out
what a good time I had had.
