1: Spooner & Hickles were watching the news
when Spoon had this brilliant idea:
"Since everyone fleeing a wildfire's confused,
who'd know we're not s'posed to be there?
Who'd know it's not our stuff jam-packed in our van?
We'll act like we're fleeing the scene,
like all our good neighbors as fast as they can,
before we're just burned up debris".

CHORUS:
Making the worst of a bad situation,
making the worst of somebody's difficult times.
Like Beavis and Butthead,
they had half a brain between them,
doing their best to make the worst of their lives.

2: Spooner & Hickles drove out to a fire
that threatened a large group of homes.
They used the excuse that their father'd retired,
took a trip & the dogs were alone.
They found easy pickings where three families fled
& left all their goodies behind:
two large screens, computers, four stereo sets.
& nobody paid them no mind.
CHORUS:

3: Spooner & Hickles made good their escape
'til stopped by the traffic that stalled
& then were approached by All News Channel 8
for an interview there in the smog.
Their faces on TV, their fifteen of fame,
they made up all sorts of tall tales.
But thanks to that interview backdropped by flames,
they've now got their fifteen in jail.
