LATE FOR HIS OWN LIFE

CHORUS:
He was always late for his own life,
with a clock even on his wrist.
No matter what schemes or techniques he'd tried,
somebody would always be pissed.
He was always late for his own life:
Mr. Un-Punctuality.
No matter how hard that it seemed that he tried,
on time he would never be.
1: Well, okay, so always & never are two very strong words.
So, there once was a moment or two.
But for any exception, not to make it absurd,
but it seemed that every time he'd be screwed:
The event would be canceled, the other person was ill
or someone else would be two hours late.
He'd forget to change the clocks, or the meeting's postponed still,
or he'd even get there early the wrong day.
CHORUS:
2: Yes, he'd even set all his clocks a full half hour ahead
or at some point that's somewhere between.
But it still wouldn't get him up and out of his bed
'cause he'd spend the extra time in the sheets.
He would go to these workshops where they'd train him to be
the perfect manager of space and time.
But as soon as he'd get home, with the turning of the key,
he'd revert back to his habits and his crimes.
BRIDGE:
"Why do today what you can put off 'til tomorrow?
Something that's important can't be rushed.
There's no need to steal time when you only have to borrow.
Is a man on time someone that you can trust?"
CHORUS:
3: Well, it's not that he is a slacker or he's lazy or a bum,
but our priorities aren't the same.
But more often than not, he'd rather get one last thing done
than to be on time and sit around and wait.
Now he races to make up for the time he has lost,
another last ditch try to beat his fate.
And his mind is ticking fast with excuses that he'll toss
for the same old garbage, "Sorry I am late."
CHORUS:

PATIENCE
TURNING OLD
UNDER A ROCK
THE OTHER WAY
FILLING THE TUB
DRIVE THIS SLOW
LIFE'S TOO SHORT
EXCUSES, EXCUSES
PEOPLETHINKIMHORNY
WHY WAIT? PROCRASTINATE
WHEELCHAIR IN SAN FRANCISCO
DOES SHE KNOW WHAT SHE IS DOING?
