Our first date, you told me you loved kittens.
"Wow! Me too! Let's swap our recipes!"
Yeah, at first you were appalled that I'd tell that joke at all.
But then, soon you saw the fun side of me.

    KITTENS AND PUPPIES can't stay all that precious.
    KITTENS AND PUPPIES can't stay all that cute.
    Too soon they're all grown-up & slobb'ring & vicious.
    Could that be what has happened to me and to you?

Our third date, I surprised you with a puppy.
Those bug eyes just melted your cold heart.
But he never got house trained. 'Tho' so cute, he had no brain.
And you never quite forgave me my part.
