IF I COULD BREATHE

1: Well, now, Mr. Roper, it's almost over.
There's not much time left down here after all.
You know what seems peculiar?
I barely even knew you.
Yet, yours will be the last face that I saw.
CHORUS:
If I could breathe just a little bit easier,
breathe in a sunny day,
fill my lungs with air so fresh and sweet.
If I could breathe just a little bit easier,
sniff at a spring bouquet,
fill my eyes with those that mean the most to me.
2: Well, now, Mr. Roper, it's almost over.
It's just us in this dark mine all alone.
You know what strikes me funny?
I did it for the money.
I pulled a double shift to pay a loan.
CHORUS:
BRIDGE:
No offense intending, but I'm too young to see this ending,
while you, on the other hand, had a pretty full life.
You've had your share of mem'ries,
but I've got two bouncing babies,
a mortgaged home, a rusting car & a pregnant wife.
3: Hang on, Mr. Roper, it's not quite over.
Is lack of air affecting what I hear?
Do you hear someone drilling?
A music simply thrilling!
But, wait ... it's going away. We're over here!
CHORUS:
