On the fifteenth day in the fifteenth hour-,

from the fifteenth gate came a surge of power:
Flight 1549-.
With a hundred fifty-five- souls on board-,
running little late-,
'nother setback we barely could afford-
before we levitate.-

Cold gray tarmac dropped far below our wings-,
landing gear retracted.
Banking left, my thoughts were on bus'ness things-
when soon they were distracted.
Couple jolts, we knew something had gone wrong-.
Engine flaming out-.
In descent we flew. Pilot couldn't prolong-:
"Brace for impact" and we're down-.

    TOUCHDOWN ON THE H2O,
    falling from the friendly skies-.
    TOUCHDOWN ON THE H2O.
    Thank God we're still alive-.

With my head tucked low down between my knees-,
praying soft and fast-,
had no way to know, had no way to see-
that we would make a splash-.
Ferry boats and a barge took us off those wings-.
But I don't understand:-
with the way they charge now for ev'rything-,
is it extra to set down on land?-
