Pockmarks made her not that attractive.
Chunky, more than pleasingly plump.
Lonely, not that socially active,
all the boys thought she was a frump.
Knee highs, plaid full skirt, ratty pigtails,
pushed her horn-rims back up her nose.
Looking all the more like a beached whale,
she's the brunt of numerous jokes.

He was not the brightest of students.
He would hang with a leather-clad crowd.
Acting boist'rous, tough and imprudent,
he was coarse, obnoxious and loud.
On a bet, he bragged he'd seduce her
as a macho, swaggering dare.
He would build her up and confuse her,
make her think he really did care.

    There's a DUMPSTER in the alley
    where the rats & the pigeons fight & play.
    There's a DUMPSTER in the alley
    where the brightest of colors is a gray.

She was puzzled by his attention:
yellow daisies picked from a yard.
Gifts of candy spelled his intentions:
someone held her in high regard.
Seven weeks, she gave in to his wishes.
Seven months, she still barely showed.
There's no way he'd make her his Mrs.
There's no way she'd let anyone know.

        With the poundage that she carried,
        her pregnancy was easily concealed.
        With the scandal she's unmarried,
        her pregnancy could never be revealed.
