Now, please keep this in mind:
I love my wife so deeply.
But, there are times when she asks things
that I feel compelled to lie.
It tears me up inside.

But, what am I supposed to do?
I've got no alibi.

It puts me to the test.
Please don't start condemnation.
To tell the truth would jeopardize
all the peace that's in our home.

a no-win situation.
So I make up all kinds of stuff
when she gets me alone  ...  & asks:

    "DOES THIS PREGNANCY
    MAKE ME LOOK FAT?
    Do these polka dots make me look stupid?
    Does the fact that I'm wearing a thong
    when I'm nearly nine months along
    seem a little bit some-how wrong
    for a new mother?"

To paraphrase a verse
& misquote Rhymin' Simon,
"A woman hears what she wants to hear
& she disregards the rest."
It goes from bad to worse.
There is no perfect timing.
A man will do what he's got to do
to keep peace in his nest.
