1: It was a dark & stormy night or maybe a balmy morning
when I first caught a glimpse of- someone following me.
It was a dank & dreadful fright that rattled me without warning.
When I turned back around, there was no one there to be seen.

2: It was a dark late afternoon the very next time I noticed
such a shadowy figure creeping up from behind.
Like in some Saturday cartoon, a flattening comic opus,
he would lurch from a bush to a tree as if I was blind.

A cop on my tail that I can't seem to lose.
If he finds out the truth, I might have to waste him,
this cop on my tail who's sticking like glue.

3: It's not like I am something pure or innocent, clean & shining.
If he looked in my closet, plenty of skeletons there.
It's not like I am insecure, but there's a lot to be finding.
If he looks hard enough, he could have me quickly ensnared.

4: It's now a dark & stormy night. I'm walking between 2 streetlamps
when a noise from behind turns my head to piles- of trash.
& now for sure in that dim light, his arresting me is imminent.
Such relief when it's only a mugger wanting my cash.
