In Turkeytown, the holidays
are viewed with angst & fear.
Some turkeys are just sent away
the cold times of the year.
The younger ones will speculate
they're heading way down South.
The older ones may sense their fate,
but keep a tight-lipped   ...   beak.

Now Henna is a Classic White
who's heard the rumored tales:
It's just a concentration camp,
a meal-producing jail.
But 'though she can't excite them more
to make a break and go,
she swears that she'll be gone before
they hang the mistle-   ...   claw.

    She's a CHICKEN TURKEY.
    She'll never stick out her neck.
    She's a CHICKEN TURKEY.
    She's smarter than all the rest.
    Her feathers may get ruffled
    in her mission to survive.
    She's a CHICKEN TURKEY,
    determined to stay alive.

        A little research there, a little digging here
        spells out a sure disaster.
        & as the holidays are soon approaching near,
        it's got her working faster
          to find a way to save her neck
        so she won't become dinner.
        But as she searches, hunts and pecks,
        her prospects become grimmer.

She slips into the records room
& falsifies her age.
She starts a pecking order
to dig underneath her cage.
She even tried a catapult,
but found it wouldn't fly.
But when she found the gate ajar,
she left without good-   ...   riddance.

So now she's free to roam the fields,
a free bird in the wild.
With dogs and coyotes at her heels,
it's not a life that's mild.
So, as you stuff yourself to shame
with this year's turkey feast,
you'll know who did the ad campaign,
"Bring back the _ Christmas _   ...   goose".   *
