then Mary Jo might not have drowned.

Partying with campaign workers,
Teddy left with Mary Jo.
'Though she had left her keys & purse there,
he'd help her catch the ferry home.
She'd told no friends of this connection.
& driving just a bit too fast,
they headed in the wrong direction.
They left the bridge & made a splash.

His autopsy said the tumor focused
on that mem'ry back in Sixty-Nine

Senator Edward Kennedy died from a brain tumor.

7-18-69:
Senator Edward Kennedy failed to report driving off a bridge
into a pond until after the inverted sunken car was discovered
the following day, with the body of Mary Jo Kopechne inside.
Despite the 11 hour time lapse & severe inconsistencies in testimony
& evidence, Kennedy was given a two month suspended sentence.
He continued his post as a powerful US Senator until his death,
although he delayed his plans to run for the Presidency.
