1: So candid and natural, spontaneous, unrehearsed,
a televised discussion with the Prez.
A handful of soldiers could only make it worse
by disclosing what went on with what was said.

2: Not only a prompting of questions to be asked,
they're given what they can and can not say.
The purpose: to keep him from looking like an ass.
But he seems to do that easily every day.

Can we talk? Can we say what's on our minds
without repercussions coming from the top?

Or is this just another bullshit photo op?

3: What made it so troubling: the hype it's all for real:
"a candid conversation", nothing barred.
Why should I be wondering? Not much has been revealed.
They've been playing us for do-dos from the start.

so concerned about the jarheads, grunts and joes.

4: This story made headlines for maybe half a day,
attracting scant attention at the most.
What really concerns me: did the soldiers lose their pay?
Were they transferred to some freezing Arctic post?

October 13, 2005:
A much ballyhooed televised "Candid Conversation"
between President George W. Bush & 10 American soldiers
stationed in Iraq was revealed to be not quite as candid as
the White House wanted the public to believe.
Some of the soldiers involved disclosed that the whole event
was staged & choreographed,
that they had been instructed as to what to & what not to say or ask.
